Shocking – Russian shabby turtle tanks do actually work?

The Russians, worried about the threat of the Ukrainian FPV drones, hide their tanks under simple shed roofs. They limit the crew’s ability to evacuate quickly, prevent the turret from rotating, reduce maneuverability, and simply work well. The shocking reality of modern warfare is that the idiotic Russian invention works. Therefore, it’s probably not idiotic.

This month (maybe even a little earlier), Ukrainians began to notice Russian tanks with simple roofs. They literally look like roofs torn off of sheds and other village buildings. Such tanks-turtles have many disadvantages, listed in the introduction.

An additional structure made of building materials weighs several hundred kilograms and the additional weight is never good. In addition, the tank cannot rotate its turret. Finally, if a roofed tank was hit, it would be a bit more difficult for the crew to escape, as they would have to climb out of the tank and then escape from that shed.

It’s the 21st century, Europe’s biggest military conflict in a very long time. We’re talking about laser weapons, anti-satellite warfare, signals intelligence planes, and the Russians are protecting their 1970s tanks with tin roofs. And this invention bizarrely works.

This shed on tracks from the Russian 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade drove deep into Krasnohorivka, helped the infantry disembark, turned around and left without as much as a scratch. Such a large target with a strong infrared signature slipped through the fingers of the defenders of Ukraine unharmed.
